FoodWise Nutrition is offering a one day seminar titled” Nutrition is Ageless” on the
18th of March 2013 where participants will learn about the latest nutrition research and its
vital role in achieving Successful Aging in Aged Care.
 
Individuals attending this event will gain improved knowledge and skills in nutrition as well as increased confidence and capability to trial new approaches to nutritional care and achieve positive outcomes for residents.
 
The seminar is targeted towards nurses, carers and catering staff and is a great opportunity to start earning CPD points for 2013.

No Falls In April 

The Injury Control Council of Western Australia Inc. (ICCWA), with support from the Department of Health WA, coordinates April No Falls. This year April No Falls will begin on April 1st and continue through the entire month in regional and metropolitan hospitals, community health services and aged care facilities as part of the Stay On Your Feet WA® program.

We encourage health professionals to embrace the ‘no falls’ message and to conduct an April No Falls event during April. The aim of the day is to educate all staff and spread key falls prevention messages in a fun and innovative way.

Registrations are now open for April No Falls 2013. Please find attached a registration pack to assist in planning your event.

WA National Clinicians Network Forum – Transfer of Care

 
The National Lead Clinicians Group, in partnership with the WA Clinical Senate, WA Health Networks and Medicare Locals, is hosting this event as part of a series of state and national forums designed to enhance clinical leadership and engagement in health reform.

This is an exciting opportunity for clinicians of all disciplines, from all sectors of health, to share their perspectives, through facilitated workshops, on the issues they face in the Transfer of Care as patients journey between different parts of the health system. This is the time to discuss current and future strategies.

Opening Closets Mental Health Training

 
Gay and Lesbian Community Services of WA (GLCS) have been funded by the Mental Health Commission to deliver the new Opening Closets Mental Health Training for frontline mental health workers in Perth.
 
Opening Closets Mental Health Training aims to improve access to mental health services by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) people by raising awareness of their specific needs and developing worker capacity to appropriately respond to clients while promoting inclusive practice.
 
GLCS will also provide support for organisations and staff to develop inclusive policies and practices that best respond to the needs of LGBTI people through policy coaching for mental health services.
 
The three hour training session will be offered for free to mental health workers in both Government and community managed organisations.
